Paint question

I am considering painting my trucks exterior green and interior fawn. Does anyone have any ideas on how to paint the doors? Should the doors be green on the inside with the dash, floor, and kick panels fawn?

Any suggestions or pictures what others have done would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Paint question

I can't tell you what's exactly correct but in my opinion "you should paint your truck how you want".
If it was mine I would probably paint it all green including the insides of the doors with the upper door panel, dash, and kick panels being fawn. Or the whole inside fawn with the door panels only being green to match the outside. Maybe google chevy truck interiors and look at "images" and see what you like best.

Re: Paint question

if you want to do it like it was done at the factory, the entire inside of the cab and doors is painted fawn. The exterior color does not wrap around anywhere on the interior, meaning the paint break line (on the door) is at the door edge. Little, if any masking was done at the factory, so lots of overspray on the fawn was the norm.

Re: Paint question

Is your intention to paint the truck like they did from the factory? You will need to backtape at the area where they crimped the doorskins on. You'll have a small band around the inside of the door that is body color. That's the simplest way. What makes this tricky is that the fawn portion (interior) of the door doesn't have a clearly defined area to break the colors because the inner structure of the door is what you see inside the truck. Break the floor color (fawn) at the area where the sill plate bolts down. The rocker will be body color all the way to the sill plate. The cab portion of the jamb will be body color all the way to the pinch weld where the jamb weatherstrip goes. You want to see body color in the door gaps when the door is closed.

If you're not hung up on a factory look, you will need to determine where you want to make the color break at. The factory method seems to be the best way, if you ask me.

Re: Paint question

Thanks for all the good information guys. I really do appreciate it. I think I might try it like chevyrestoguy says and break it at the crimp line as trying to tape at the exact line at the door edge would be tough for me........lol.

Thanks again.

so to get the factory look, paint the inside parts, shut the door then shot the exterior? should i let the interoir dry then shot or all in one go? also how does it work on two tones? i want some overspray but in the correct spots!!!

Re: Paint question

Thanks guys, I think I might try bhc41051's idea and see how that looks.
I sure appreciate all the input. This is a great forum.
