Yeah it's pretty crappy. But I like it because it's just how someone would've slapped one on it back in the 70's or something. I had originally purchased an old 70's sun tach but it didn't work. So I bought a brand new sunpro. It looks mostly the same. I could've swapped the internals into the old housing but I didn't feel like possibly ending up with 2 bad tachs LOL

I yanked the one I had in mine. The new carrier will have a tach in it. I didnt want to re-use it on a new column because of how they scratch it up and covers the center of the cluster where the turn signals and warning lights are. If I had to do an add on I would rather dash mount it or maybe mount it on the windshield pillar. One would think that after all the years they have been making them they would have come up with a better mounting system by now.

Re: Tach location...

I'm personally not a fan of the stock tach. The double digits look weird. That's just me though. I'd like to find a retro looking tach to fit in the dash eventually.

You can buy the full setup or piece it together for a few bucks less.
The full sweep gauges and the carrier is costing me about 1100 bucks I think all said and done.

Ebay the c10 gauge cluster and they come up with all different gauge packages.

it depends on the gauges you choose... the ones Im doing just happen to be that much. The carrier is only like 30 bucks

Hell, Im putting thousands and thousands in every other part... so what not in the dash too?

From the drivers seat mine doesn't obstruct anything. It only blocks the hole where a tach would be in the cluster.

if you are going to spend that kind of cash at least go with these guys and not some EBAY stuff, plus that carbon fiber gauge panel looks weird

Cheap and easy, used Advance Auto's online discount and picked up in store...until I restore my gauges and add factory tach.
