Little progress on the Panel.

Well I installed the powder coated rear control arms with polyuethane bushings and our "C" notch kit. Everything worked and fit great!! No cutting or modifying the parts to make them fit. We have also updated our Panel Project page whitch explains how we installed everything and our reasoning behind it. I hope you enjoy it. Here are some pictures:

I just recieved 4" drop springs back from the powder coater today, so I will be installing them. I also need to remove the top shock brackets to get ready for the shock relocaters. I need to figure out wether or not I am going to install a rear disk brake system on it also. I know I should, but the expences are climbing. I guess this is what happens when you take as much time to do a project as I have. You have the opertunity to change the original plan.. This project is turning out to be a lot more that I originally planned.. LOL WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

was the c-notch required for the 4" drop or was it just something you wanted to do

I did a 4 1/2" drop in the front and am doing a 6" drop in the rear. The springs are only 4", but I am going to use 2" drop blocks also. I had a 5" drop previously and the rear end would hit the bump stops on some of the larger bumps and I don't want that to happen with this drop. The former owner did not relocate the rear shocks either and that was probably a big contributing factor to the problem. I don't want to take any chances and it was easely accessable, so I went ahead and did it. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

I won't be doing a body drop. I just want a nice sporty stance that will lower the center of gravity and make it handle better. It will definetly have a custom paint job. I will be doing a forward tilting hood and have made the drip rails seamless. I am also installing a power antenna, and have installed the 69-72 left side firewall to allow for a foot pedal E-brake. I am also thinking about cutting the barn doors in half, grafting the top of a suburban tailgate on it then split it so the doors will still open. Then install a suburban lift gate in it, and somehow do it all with some sort of hidden hinges. The pain plan calls for Cadillac White Diamond for a base color then ghost pearl blue flames whith ghost burgandy pearl highlights. My logo will be painted on the sides also, but not on top of the paint. It will be pushed in and will look like part of the paint job. The Classic Heartbeat will be done in Candy ruby, with a black line under it and the pickup parts in black lettering. The interior is still in the planning stages. So far I have a pair of Grey electric lether hi-back bucket seats out of a 98 F**d exploder with air lumbar and pull out leg rest for the front seats. I also will be installing an old air A/C system that will adapt to my 72 Suburban rear air that I have stashed away for it also. The floor will get a cut pile charcoal grey carpet all the way back to the rear and I will install pollished stainless steel ware strips on it. The rear side interior is still left open, because I havn't figured out what I want to do there yet. I have probably missed a bunch of stuff, but this gives you an idea of what I am doing. Wes,
I see only one bolt on the "left" side of your notch plate. If so, will that not act as a pivot point and allow the frame to flex, up-and-down? Just askin'.

Thanks again guys, Professor, the one bolt on the front outside is all you can see in the picture. You can't see because of the angle the two bolts on the bottom. This is meant to hold the frame rigid in this area I think. There is a total of 7 bolts holding it in place. It will flex a little, that is why it is bolted. That is to keep the frame from cracking in that area. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

hi Wes,
Nice looking install. Is that the notch you are selling? Is it the same as the CPP one?

Thanks again guys, I hope that it will be ready to drive this spring..LOL I have had some issues with the body work that I shouldn't be having, but hopefully I am on top of it. I am completely unhappy with the driver's side rear wheel well and the gas door conversion. I like the way the door looks, however I am not happy with the body work. I am also unhappy with the way the rear wheel well came out, so I will be cutting that all out and replacing it with new metal. I will know more when I get all of the filler removed from those areas. Hopefully that will happen this weakend, so I can quit stewing about it...LOL It's pretty bad when someone as inexperiences as I am can do better than the guy that has 30 years of experience! Sorry to vent here, but while I am working in that area of the truck, I am looking at it constantly. It will get better though... I know, because as anyone who knows me I don't like poor quality! Not in parts nor in work!! WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Sorry jay-dawg, I got on my soap box and completely forgot to answer your question. I do not know if this "C" notch kit is the same one that CPP sells or not. That is not where I get them from, but it is the one that I am selling. This is one of my ways to do test fitting of the parts I handle. Tax deductible quality control...LOL They fit great, I just had some verry minor filing to do to the hole that the upper coil spring clamp bolt goes through on the passinger side. A couple of minutes of that and the bolt slid in the hole like it is supposed to. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com
