'97 2 Door Tahoe
Well, Finally started making some changes!
Heres the day I got it No changes here just removed the awful side steps! And then I finally figured out my wheels (for now atleast waiting on 22x9.5s) The wheels are 20x8.5 front and rear, the major difference is the backspace of the wheels. I went a head and got the 5.25" backspace for the front and the rear i used the 4.75" backspace. Tires are 255/45/20 Front and 275/45/20 Rear Put them on the tahoe to measure for my drop kit, going with a 4/4.5 drop which will bring the fenders down to just about an inch over the wheels.

Re: '97 2 Door Tahoe
Todays progress got everything taken apart in the front to get ready for paint. Had to go buy all new jackstands and a floor jack, I wasnt feeling the tiny little 2 ton ones. Especially since I'll be under it painting.

Re: '97 2 Door Tahoe
Yes they're much better, I'm happy with them. And I sold the old wheels the same day! It worked out!
Got the rear suspension all removed today, I started to strip the front control arms of ball joints and bushings. Having a very difficult time removing the control arm bushings. Had to finally just walk away from it! Hopefully can figure it out, tried with a balljoint press and there's just not enough room to use it.

Re: '97 2 Door Tahoe
Was planning on completing this, this weekend but I've had enough of it. The bushings and ball joints have won. Just buying new ones with everything installed. The c10s I've had weren't this hard to put back together..

Re: '97 2 Door Tahoe
I didn't want to get too crazy with it, not yet atleast. When I had my c10 I was always worried about scraping it or hitting steep inclines. I wanted some more ground clearance!

I'm still waiting on the 22" boss 338s to arrive, when they do I'll bring the back down a little more.

Re: '97 2 Door Tahoe
I messed up on my hanger install, I put them about 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" to far back causing my rear wheels to be off center. Pulled it back into the shop to redo the hangers. This has been frustrating working on this! Nothing but issues so far, the hanger thing was my fault though wasn't paying attention.

Re: '97 2 Door Tahoe
Haha Yeah I wasnt feeling it, I want a long term project that I can do everything I want to it. Ive always wanted a 67-72 so the chance to buy a really nice running project for almost nothing was a no brainer. The cool stuff I have planned is gonna be fun.!
