I have never heard of these needing to be replaced.....what did you do to yours?

Rebuilding my front end, tie rods, pitman and idler arms, ball joints, brakes etc.

Try this, remove the old ones completly and drive for a month. I bet you will forget they are missing. The actually are there to blow air to the rotor for cooling ,not clear dust.
