tilt column swap requirements
I found a tilt column at my local junk yard for 100 bucks if I pull it with the steering wheel. Seems like a decent price. What my question is will it be a good fit? I have a 1971 Chevy c 10 long bed with the 350/350 combo. The donor column is coming out of a what looks like a mid 70s chevy camper. Here are the pictures I got of it. In the camper the key is on the dash. I know that is a good thing. What other key features should I evaluate prior to pulling it. Length, wiring, switches etc.? Also wanted to know if there are any key parts that I should be sure and grab to ensure that it will transplant well into my vehicle?

Re: tilt column swap requirements
On this same subject, I have a couple tilt columns from full size 1970 Pontiacs in my garage. Both are column shifted. Does anyone know if they will work in a 1972 Chevy Pick-up without a lot of modification?

Re: tilt column swap requirements
There are at least two different articles in the FAQ section about van tilts in our body style trucks. At the top of the page click on the home button on the upper left hand side then go to the 67-72 portion it will be there I think it is on page 2[or 3].
As for the Pontiac column they would have keys in them most likely and those are larger in the diameter of the housing and shifter tubes making them a very tight fit or a no fit with out modification to the bezel or dash areas. Jim |

Re: tilt column swap requirements
Thanks for the directions to the other faq area. I was just looking at the index above where we normally post. I knew I saw some other faq areas before but could not find them. I will search there to gather info. Thanks again.
