no start
250 l6 and if died. Has fuel to carb and tries to start but acts like no gas. Can pour gas in carb but still no start. Will try to start and run for a,second but very rough. New,fuel pump, distributor and fuel filter. Had to tow it home. Have disconnected and double checked to be sure fuel pump is pumping. Any thoughts. When this happened I was running about twenty mph and it just quit like no gas.

Next thing I would check would be the spark. Take one of the plug wires off, stick the end of a screwdriver into it, hold the screwdriver by the handle and put the blade of the screwdriver about 1/16 of an inch away from the top of the spark plug. Have someone turn the engine over and see if you see a spark jump the 1/16" gap. LockDoc

Re: no start
Check the clamp on the dizzy hasn't come loose. It likely did and your timing is now too retarded to maintain an idle.

Re: no start
No gas and it would sputter and die sort of slowly. No ignition and it would simply stop running, so sounds like fire.
Of course this doesn't match will run for a second. See if the accelerator pump is squirting. Check for spark. |
