Re: "Patina".....didn't we used to call that rust?
Agreed. How am I supposed to get my roof and windshield lichen to regrow on fresh paint? I would have to park the truck for 25 years for it to look natural. In seriousness I prefer my old truck to look like an old truck. It's not rusting out; only fading. A repaint just isn't a pressing need. To be honest it's the last thing on the list.

Re: "Patina".....didn't we used to call that rust?
I am starting to see ads with vehicles sporting many rust holes labeled as "great patina"..makes me think since rust has come back in fashion, ill just save all that bodywork nonsense and glue my junk back together to get some thumbs up. Glad the trend is swinging to allow for the holes and dents, will save me thousands!

Re: "Patina".....didn't we used to call that rust?
Yeah that's part of the problem. Someone came up with the great idea of "patina", claiming it was good. And now people think it increases the value of their "rust bucket" to claim it has nice patina.

Re: "Patina".....didn't we used to call that rust?
WTT: I have nice rust free prime OEM fenders, doors, and hood I would like to trade plus cash for rusted parts. Also have full set of trim that shines like new I would trade for dull and dinged set, even up. Please call Tim at Knucklehead Garage
Patina isn't a new idea, it is new to the masses. Old faded out vehicles have always been out there. Most didn't take notice, shiny paint is what caught their attention. That was all the magazines showed you. I took my '72 shortbed in all it's old blue faded glory to our local cruise-in back in '04 and '05 and never got a single comment, nod, look over, or a single person talking to me. They all had their shiny pricey bought turn key kept in McMansion three car garage yuppy prizes and just weren't hip to my vibe...yet
