Insurance?

Hi again guys,

I've been searching for insurance for my 67 C50 Schoolie, and I'm not having any luck. I've tried most of the big insurance companies I can think of, like Geico, Progressive, Hagerty, etc., but they say no. The closest I got was with Progressive, but when they got to model C50, their system wouldn't accept it. Others say they insure bus to RV conversions, but not "school" bus to RV conversions, and they have to be Professionally done. I just keep hitting roadblocks. That one made me laugh.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried National General (Good Sam)? That's who I use for my RV insurance.

Also, I've never tried to Insure anything like you have, but I like Insurance through the Farm Bureau. Do you have a local Farm Bureau office there?

Go to www.aths.org and ask there. There are all sorts of antique heavy vehicles that guys have insured. There has t be a way. Insurance companies can suck, but they are in charge. Blue Bird builds buses. We mostly see school buses, some pushers and some cowl/chassis. I have seen the same pushers in school bus, as well as transit, coach, and RV from factory. The pusher is called the All American in bus form and Wanderlodge in RV form. The Wanderlodge has been offered since '63, so nothing new converting buses to RV. You would think insurance companies would be aware and provide insurance.

Like Bill mentioned, if you have a Farm Bureau in your state, give them a call.
Here, it's called Virginia Farm Bureau, so I assume you'd look it up as Wisconsin Farm Bureau?
I converted a school bus into a camper years ago and they insured it. I converted the title/registration to RV also. I don't remember them asking me what model International it was, just how long it was. I think with RV's that's all they're interested in.

Thanks for the tips everybody, I appreciate it. I'll have to take a look at the title when I get home from Toronto here. I'm not real sure how my Dad had it titled all these years.

Mine is only a 30 footer. She's old and slow, but people get a kick of her where ever I go. I can't wait until spring when I can get her all cleaned up and a fresh coat of paint.

Yea, pretty sure that's your problem.
There's tons of companies to choose from if you get it titled as an RV

Finally, I managed to find someone to insure my rig. I was still having some troubles with insuring it as a motorhome since most wouldn't insure something that old, and it not having been made by a big manufacturer. I finally went through Good Sam/National General and got it covered.

No time too soon either. Its supposed to finally be hitting the 40's around here this weekend.

I have a 76 C65 and I don't use it very much. just to move my bulldozer locally. Im a scofflaw. I don't insure it or license it. they want too much for insurance about 2000 per year.If I get a ticket the fine will be much cheeper. I get up at the crack of dawn and make my move when everyone else is asleep.

Talk to geico commercial department. State farm is nice but geico is cheaper.
