My first truck - '65 GMC

I just picked up a 1965 GMC short bed, step side. It was sold through a consignment shop up in Dallas.

Original I6 250 cc engine. 3 on the column.

Typical surprises associated with buying a 50 year old car without a warranty, but nothing that has me scared.
- Exhaust pipe came loose from the engine block
- Head gasket proved to be a bit loose and is leaking (engine oil?)
- Clutch required adjusting, but got a clean bill of health
- Carb / fuel system acting up on cold start -- required pouring a 1/2 oz. of gasoline in the top of the carb to get a cold start (not everytime)

I enjoyed a nice drive over Easter weekend from Houston out to the hill country.

No regrets (yet)

Going to have to look up my Web1.0 book to learn how to post a picture on this site....but I'll figure it out

Welcome! Sounds like you are already enjoying it. In 1965, the engine would be a 230ci rather than a 250ci. Unless someone has replced the engine with a 250ci. Sounds like you have a nice truck that will be fun to fix up as you drive it. Congratulations!
