Bed Wood (Almost) Removed!

After finding a cro-bar and prying the old bed wood out, I'm almost ready to remove the chrome (Or what is now rust) strips!

OEM was NOT chrome just black painted steel

Easier way would have been to unbolt the strips 1st.

Might be less work to tighten them so they shear off.

if you have the space and a few extra hands, take the 8 bolts that hold the whole bed and take the bed off, then stand it up right and remove the bolts, or cus, get dirt and debris in ur eyes and wish you had like i did when i removed my wooden bed strips still on the truck!!!

Don't bother with wrenches, just use a cut off wheel on a grinder. You'll have it done in twenty minutes. For sure, if you're going to remove the bed anyways, take it off, stand it up. Really easy to work that way. At least put it on a couple sawhorses or four stands.

Most the bed strips look salvageable to me. I'd use a grinder as jayoldschool said or a reciprocating saw and reinstall with new bolts.

Yes, I used a combo of sawzall and grinder for mine. Went fast. Uninstalled the wood with a 3lb sledge hammer.

I had to take mine off and stand it up like was said before. I also took the wheel wells out and replaced those bolts while I was at it.
