the leftovers... 55 short bed chevy patina hot rod.
So I usually reside in the 60-66 section. but I'm wondering astray. Hah. This is a project I am having a group of young individuals helping me with, I figured I would supply the knowledge of how to build cars. And they supply a helping hand. The finished truck will be a parts go getter for this group. And also a hot rod in the hiding. Plans are to use my old 65 c20 frame with a 55 cab and bed. Need to shorten the frame. Lower the front jack up the rear. But also put a c chanel in the back. I want this thing to be able to get looooooow. Not frame laying low. But lower. Getting a junkyard motor. Preferably a big ol Cadillac motor. Some transmission. Doesn't matter to us. And looking for a 6 lug rear with a posi. Have a full set of slotted mags that are 6 lug which would look slick on this build. Also we're planning on keeping the patina. The picture posted isn't the best to show it. But the other side is horrible. Now all we need is 2 fenders and two doors..hint hint. Doesn't matter the condition. *HINT HINT*. anyhow..The actual 55, my buddy is building for his wife. He has another cab painted and ready to go. So the group gets the leftover parts to play with hah The kids should have fun. Fab work may not be to pretty, but that's not what this build is about. It's about teaching younger youth that there's more to life than an X box remote. And that turning a few wrenches is good for them. Hopefully everyone enjoys. Sorry it's not so.e insane build but hope it's a fun one. if I can hit that mark. Well then we are going to be sitting in phat city friends

Sounds like a cool build.
Real nice that you're going to teach some kids about this stuff. Kim |

Sounds like a great gig for these kids!!! You should take them to Pleasanton and 'show them' the art of wrangling a sale at a swap meet!!! lol
That where "street smarts" really pays off for car builders.... Good luck with your project

Jee wiz thanks joe! Yea I really hope these kids will dig this build. We are kindof letting the kids decide what they want to do with it. to an extent. It still is a classic. Rusted. But a classic so. No holes chopped in the hood or huge fins on the cab hahah got to teach them how to make a classy hot rod.

Wish I could have taken them! They would have gone crazy. But a few of the kids are pretty sharp. Some are...well....Little slow on the pickup. They range from farm kids to one's who haven't ever held a hammer or ran a tractor.

Thanks advanced design.
Ended up moving the frame to the same property as the 55. It was only across town but now we can really get started having fun.

Re: the leftovers... 55 short bed chevy patina hot rod.
So hoping this weekend to maybe put some time into the 55. I'm wondering what to do with the missing fenders and Grill. We have a hood from a 55 car that's on. Im Wondering maybe Some Kind Of Late Model fenders. hmmmm. but any ideas are welcome this buikd is inspired by everyone and there builds on this site. so ideas are MORE THAN welcome. Iv got 2 other projects in the works so a 3rd one is a lot on one plate and all that some of the kids want to do is paint it with flames. But don't want any of the hard work that comes with it haha so the slammed frame part may be a no go for the sake that the kids would loose interest and only the mentors of the group would end up doing all of the hard work. Hahaha.

Re: the leftovers... 55 short bed chevy patina hot rod.
Okay. So some of the kids are super jazzed about the buikd after what we did tonight. I think we have a new game plan. simple. Cheap and ugly. But mean as sin On the road. so we(few kids and i) pushed the frame over next to the 55. And tossed the bed on. Sits to high and the frame has to be shooorter. Way shorter haha. But as with anything if ya didn't see it it didn't happen.

Re: the leftovers... 55 short bed chevy patina hot rod.
And some of the interior. This we will take all the carpet out of. The stuff in there smells buckets are going away. And storing wheel is to. I have a wheel from a 62 apache that I'm going to see is it works. Or I may just find a junkyard steering column and so what it has on it for a wheel. Same with the seats. Want to find somthing old but in okay Shape... so u do like shopping spree at the pick and pull And we do need a big back window. It has be cracked or tinted or in any shape just not a pile of glass. So if anyone knows of one localy... maybe we could work somthing out.
