What's under the carpet?
What can be used under a new carpet to help quiet the inside of the cab a bit?
Thanks Chris |

Re: What's under the carpet?
yw. I looked at Brothers and LMC for carpet and ended up going with Brothers because they offered more color choices (light and medium blue as opposed to just blue). Hoping to get it installed soon but have to patch a few small holes first. Went with a charcoal color. There are a few more places that offer carpet choices but at much higher prices. I know you get what you pay for but just wasn't able to shell out big bucks at this time.

Re: What's under the carpet?
I ordered 75 sqf of fatmat and placed under the carpet. I even covered the gas tank , inside the doors and behind the door panels. I still had some leftover. Ordered the carpet from stock interiors with the mass backing and was a perfect fit. The cab is a lot quieter.

Re: What's under the carpet?
I would NOT recommend the stuff people say they pick up from Home Depot/ Lowes. It's called peel n' seal. I used that following a couple recommendations thinking I'd get off cheap, but it hasn't reduced vibration, or volume. I suppose it would reduce temps a little but not enough to warrant it's cost and application time versus some other better suited product. Best of luck in your search!

Re: What's under the carpet?
I just finished doing this about a year ago. You can see photos/descriptions in my build thread below.

Re: What's under the carpet?
I used some of the sound/vibration reduction material from LMC. The first and last time I bought anything from LMC - got a few things and between the shoddy product quality and poor packing job, I've used GMC Paul's and other vendors since. That said, there was nothing wrong with the adhesive mat material, and I covered just about everything in the cab with it, including the gas tank and inside the doors.
