question about world class t5's
Anyone run one, and what is it rated for. There are like 3-4 that just popped up on my local craigslist and I have the cash right now to buy one. Please let me know if you have or are using one, I would like to snatch one up if it is going to work. Oh, and what do I need clutch wise for a t5 install on an sbc?

Re: question about world class t5's
I have one in my Nova out of a 92 V8 Camaro. I used the stock T5 clutch disc with an 11 inch flywheel and pressure plate that I already had in my Nova that way I didn't have to deal with the hydraulic clutch junk from the Camaro. I have had it in there for about 3 years with no problems at all.

Re: question about world class t5's
a mildly built 350 would be about all the power I would run through that transmission. they don't take very much torque to break them. I ran one for about a year with a stock tpi 350 and it had no issues. swapped out the 350 for a 454 and killed it in under a week. sheered the teeth right off of 3rd gear. I figure the torque rating it's probably a good 50 ft lbs more than listed.
as for a clutch setup an 11 inch flywheel and pressure plate will work fine. you just have to run a t5 clutch disc. centerforce makes these.

Re: question about world class t5's
there are two options that you can go with as far as bellhousings are concerned each will have its own pros and cons. you can run and mechanical linkage set up with an earlier bellhousing but you will have to use an angled bracket at the transmission mount. you will have to make sure your bell housing is the right diameter hole for the t5. Some bellhousings have a bigger hole. they are hub centric and if you do not make sure they are properly aligned you will have pilot bearing problems and or input shaft bearing failure. always run a roller style pilot bearing.
if you run the standard t5 bellhousing you will have to accommodate the hydraulic clutch set up.

Check this article out..it should clear up your concerns and it explains upgrades....Disregard that they profile a Ford. http://www.hotrod.com/how-to/transmi...-transmission/
