Kick Down linkage 70' CST 402/400 HELP??
Hey guys,
I am continuing my rebuild of my 1970 402/400 TH. The truck is mostly factory, incl. the engine and trans., except for a 1972 Rochester, and apparently no kick down linkage. Several Auto Parts wholesalers can sell me the actual linkage, yet my mechanic says that it "may" be vacuum or electronic control (gas pedal?). Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Up to 1970 the th400 used a carb mounted electric switch, 71-72 used a switch on the throttle pedal under the dash.

Your mechanic is on the right path with electronic. The 71-72 pedal assemblies are easier to find than the earlier style.

Great pic John. I am assuming I need the stock Carb for this to work. Or at least and "era correct" Rochester?
Another guy asked if they were for sale... Can I ask where you got them? Thanks!!!

That pic is off of ebay, but I did buy one with a WTB ad in the parts for sale section.

Watch eBay.
The last two sets I bought were less that $75.

Re: Kick Down linkage 70' CST 402/400 HELP??
I am running a Lokar setup for my 350SBC / TH400 Set up. Love it. Easy to install. Electric box mounts on tranny pan, very easy to adjust.
