Better antennae?

What can I do to improve my antennae situation? I don't like the one built in the windshield. Any quality aftermarket ones? I'd rather not drill a hole in my fender either. Now what???

Re: Better antennae?

I saw one that was mounted on the right front stake pocket bottom hole, it was a power antenna, the antenna cable was routed down the drain hole into the bottom of the cab

Re: Better antennae?

Do you have a 70s or 80s pickup?
They moved the windshield antenna higher up in the 80s trucks that greatly improved reception.
I'd just upgrade by swapping the windshield for an 80s version.

Mine works great in my 82.

Re: Better antennae?

I have a 77 bonanza. But.....i just looked under the bench seat and found a huge old power booster and some cheap speakers. I tossed everything and hooked up the radio to the factory dash speaker. The system works and sounds great. Every channel is crystal clear. Huh! Go figure. Thanks for the replys.

Re: Better antennae?

There used to be a GM antenna that mounted on the right front fender of the truck. I put on on mine, years ago, due to the fact that I live in a audio deficient area of the country and I have had my fill of listening to KFDI out of Wichita, Kansas. It seems if you can't get any other station some crappy little country station just comes in 5X5 and rattles your speakers for no other reason than to upset you.

Re: Better antennae?

I do get plenty of stations here in central mass. Perhaps i'll have to mount the fender one if i ever replace the windshield. Do they even still make this windshield with the antennae built in???

Re: Better antennae?

I'm pretty sure they do. There are so many in glass antenna cars that were and still are being made.
