Another S10 frame project questions

I am about to start a S10 frame swap on a '53. From what I can find out the cab mounts would be fairly easy to fabricate but locating them on the S10 frame might be problematic.

Does anyone have the drawings and/or instructions from either E-Z Chassis or ADE? I would pay a reasonable fee to borrow them.

Thanks ralph

Re: Another S10 frame project questions

Measure 4 inches forward of the oval hole on the chassis and mark a line. The forward cab mount bolt holes should line up with this. You can drop a plum bob through the hole and line up the string with the line. You may have plus or minus 1/2 an inch of play here depending on where you like your front tires in the wheel well. I set mine about 3.75 forward of the oval hole.

The cab mounts I like and I'm making are out of 4x4 inch square tubing. Good luck!

Re: Another S10 frame project questions

Thanks to all that have replied so far. I will certainly study the links suggested. One of my concerns was to have enough room for a 5.7. I have never done an AD truck. I have done several V-8 conversions in CJ's. I don't want to mount the cab and engine over and over for fit. I would like to get it right the first time. I have access to a SBC plastic mock up which might come in handy.
Any suggestions as to where to mount the frame mounts for the 5.7?

Re: Another S10 frame project questions

again, refer to the s10 swap sticky on the main page of this forum. skymangs really goes in depth to answer the exact questions you are asking. its not as easy to read as someone pointedly answering your questions here in this thread, but its definitely worth the time to read. everything is in there, mount building, engine placement, everything. and the stuff you want to know is on page 1.

here is the link so you can just click through.

Re: Another S10 frame project questions

Thanks Hussey and Joedoh The Skymangs links are very interesting and informative. Turns out I was bugging Chris (skymangs) last fall by mail and text. Now that I have his stuff here I shouldn't have to bother him. again thanks to all
