Re: got a question about windsheild wipers

Photos would help, you may have gotten a kit for 55-57 which I think is different than 58-59. I got a 59 GMC electric motor and it mounted in the same location as the stock vacuum wiper motor. I pulled the GMC arms and transmissions so I do not know if the vaccum would have worked.

Re: got a question about windsheild wipers

Factory electric wipers in 55-57 used a cable control to activate a slide switch. 58-59 models used an electrical switch in lieu of the mechanical cable switch. I know with vacuum wipers the actual motor is the same 55-59. I think the electric motor was interchangeable 55-59 as long as the "switch" was changed to match the switch on the motor housing.

Re: got a question about windsheild wipers

Hi, I don't know if this will help, but I bought the Newport wiper assembly and it bolted right up. What is the kit that you have that won't work?
