71 directional self canceling lever

My directional lever doesn't self cancel..was this not a standard or is mine broke? If broke is it fixable?

It should cancel. It could be as simple as replacing a couple of $0.99 cancelling cam springs. See them in this Classic Industries link.

You can see one this picture. of a tilt column. The other is directly below it hidden by the cancelling cam.

Mine doesnt cancel for the left. Need to oull wheel and check. Do these springs wear out break or what? Maybe came loose?

I vaguely remember breaking one years ago. A tilt column I rescued had one missing also, but who knows why.

Usually the springs break. I have had a couple where the small plastic tab that holds the spring in has broken.

The "Help" board at the local parts store may be the answer. One of the places that has a large selection of that kind of stuff, should have a turn signal cam and the springs maybe in a pack together. I have seen the cams mess up and not work properly. If they didn't mess up so often why would they be available on the help board. Jim

Hugger is correct, I just got turn signal cams from my local Advanced auto
and it came with springs. It's in the red help section.
