A/c heater question

So I have a 1962 c10 for a parts truck. It had a deluxe heater/ac that I took off to put on my project truck which is a 1963 c20. However through reading forums I thought these two years were common yet the lines do not look correct on my c20. Was the c20 different than the c10s look at picture below. Notice the line in ports for the ac are on the right of the picture. This is opposed to my 62 c10 which are on the box on the left. There is also a different style ac/heater on the 63 c20 any and all help appreciated thank you.

Re: A/c heater question

For starters, that unit is a heater only....no A/C. Secondly the heater shown in the pics is not the deluxe heater, it is the recirculating heater. The deluxe heater will have the fan and heater core in the engine compartment. There is no difference in the heaters between the C10, 20 or 30......or 40, 50 and 60 series either. They are all interchangeable. You will need to also change the heater controls if you are changing between a deluxe heater, a thrift air heater or a recirculating heater.

Re: A/c heater question

Thank you sir. I guess I didn't clarify well enough so here I go again. Both of the two pictures are from the same c20 cab. Which I now know from captianfab is a thrift air. (I am wanting to replace this with a deluxe picture below) The port holes are not the same so I am assuming you can mount a deluxe to the old thrift location?I will attach a photo of my deluxe heater below.

Re: A/c heater question

My deluxe taken off my 62 c10 and I assume it is deluxe and just a heater no a/c. What is the difference between the fan and air levers?

Re: A/c heater question

The deluxe heater should have four levers on the dash, where as the recirculating system only had fan and defrost, so two levers. Also I don't know if it is possible to put a 1963-66 heater in a 1960-62 truck, the plate in the firewall where it enters the cab is different. Someone correct me if I am wrong though. You would have to adapt it.

Re: A/c heater question

My deluxe came off my 62 c10 and it did have the four levers. The blue colored firewall is a 63 which is what I am trying to put the deluxe on currently

Re: A/c heater question

It should fit, the only difference I know is where you see the plate mounted on the blue firewall is it is bigger on the 60-62 cabs, only thing I can think to double check.
