Spindle / king pin options for half-ton?
I saw Speedway's Deluxe 49-54 Chevy Car king pin set and was impressed: it uses needle bearings to make a stronger, smoother interface between spindle and kingpin. It made me think "Hey, gotta be some way to use off the shelf parts to do this on truck spindles!"
The standard 49-54 king pin is .8660" diameter X 5.312" tall, bushing OD 1.05 x 1.315 tall. The half-ton truck kingpin, 47-59, is .866 diameter x 5.312 tall. It seems to me that the Speedway Deluxe pin set should work on a 1/2 ton spindle and that, for that matter, the spindle should fit on a truck axle. Right? Also - anyone have a truck spindle handy? I want to know the OD of the kingpin lug on one of those, I'm hoping to find an off-the-shelf needle bearing that wouldn't take too much machining.
