looking for wheel suggestions
With my COE on the the road now I would like to install some different wheels. My limits are: 1. Size, must be 16X7 or 16X8 (have new tires). 2. Must have 6X5.5 bolt pattern. . 3. I have a budget of $800 for wheels and accessories. I prefer steel wheels and something that fits the style of the truck. Anyone who can do a bit of photoshopping would be very helpful. I am at a loss here as to what looks right. This is my best side view.
Thanks, Rob

Re: looking for wheel suggestions
I know it's across country, but check with Wheelsmith in Corona CA. 1 800 854-8937. They built my wheels 16x7 5x5 and I recieved them in about 2weeks of ordering, and they do nice work.

Re: looking for wheel suggestions
The wheelsmith artillery wheels would take that 200? model chasis and make it look right at home with your coe cab. The smoothie style wheels would look good also. Just my .02 worth. Great looking rig you built. I'm glad to see your driving the wheels off of it...

Re: looking for wheel suggestions
I agree the artillery wheels would look great and they can make the correct size but @ $750 per wheel it's out of range. Even if I change to 17" tires I'm still looking at $650 per wheel. What about these?
https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/i...AQNEW25-03cROg These are the spare wheel used on Yukons and some other late model GM SUVs. It would take a bit of searching to come up with 4 but they will fit fine and I don't think to many others are running them. Rob

"" they can make the correct size but @ $750 per wheel""
HolyMoly - they did my 16x7 's for $125 per + shipping - $610 for 5 wheels to me - seems there is a bit more welding involved with the Artillery centers, but that seems excessive. |

Re: looking for wheel suggestions
Wheel Vintiques #12.
I have seen a smoothie in aluminum w/ faux rivets around the circumference, those might look cool too.

Re: looking for wheel suggestions
That truck needs positive offset wheels on the front like for a early 70's Cad Eldo with matching negative offset wheels on the back to give it a dual wheel truck look even if it runs singles on the back.

Re: looking for wheel suggestions
You know since you built this truck I've been trying to think of what wheel would look good on it. I like the look of a steel wheel or artillery wheel as well. But would they look right on the rear with the offset they use with this chassis? My idea was factory offset in the front and a more centered to deep offset in the rear. This would mimic the look of the original truck wheels. Unfortunately that means the bed would need widened or the rear end narrowed. Both out of budget. I'm looking forward to what other ideas come to light.
And I love this truck and what you've done with it! Very well done sir!

Re: looking for wheel suggestions
So I photoshopped the choices. #1 and 3 are aftermarket. #2 are the spare wheel used on some GM SUVs and #4 are Toyota wheels. What do you juys think?
Thanks Rob

Re: looking for wheel suggestions
Definitely #3. They are the closest to an O.E. COE style wheel and have that 50's truck appeal!

Re: looking for wheel suggestions
here are one of the 2 15" vintiques steel wheel, they were about $60.00 a piece and I bought them through summit racing. These have the 6 lug GM bolt pattern that I think you are looking for
The 16" one that looks like this is about $150.00 each. part number is 12-600605....the skinniest one I saw was 10" wide... Hope this helps out... MikeC |

Re: looking for wheel suggestions
With being limited to a 6 bolt and 16" I'd say steelie smoothies are the best if not only option that'll look great and period correct. So #3 in the pics.

Re: looking for wheel suggestions
3 it is, kinda, I ordered 16X7 smoothies with the chrome rim and the bare centers, I also ordered baby moon caps with the wheels. Orge, I don't know the white or off white is kinda growing on me. I was thinking what ever color I go with to match the front bumper and grill. Any body got recommendations on which color if all 3 are painted to match? Colors and paint choices are always a hard part for me.

My vote for color, if you're set on doing the grill as well, is the original blue the truck came in. These trucks lend themselves to either a body-colored grill or chrome. A nice coat of gloss blue would look good. The white would make it look too much like a big ole smile, lol. I think the off-white wheels and bumper would look great with an untouched grill. I like contrasting wheel/bumper color versus body color. More visual pop! Lon
