Spare tire information help

I am working on a 72 cst blazer and it has original carpet and I don't see where a spare tire carrier was and there are no holes. Could you get one with out a spare? What were the options and what do I need to look for on it. Thanks for any help.

Inside spare tire carrier will be behind the back seat drivers side mounted to the floor. There should be 4 nuts on the bottom of the floor board if you look from the bottom. I can get you a picture tonight of the holes just don't have a spare tire carrier.

This is true if it has a back seat, if it didn't originally have a back seat, the spare tire carrier will be directly behind the driver's seat. There should be nuts welded to the underside of the floor with little cage things over them to keep water out of them if there are no bolts in them.

If it's original it won't. Wheel wells were never carpeted from the factory.

I cant find any holes in the floor. It has carpet over the wheel wells. Think it would have been on the outside. It has been repainted so could have had holes filled.

Re: Spare tire information help

May not have had one. My 1970 doesnt have one, the previous owner had a spare mounted on the front bumper and its never had work done to it. Mine never had a rear seat so mine would have been mounted behind the front drivers seat. You would think a factory cst would have had one though.

Re: Spare tire information help

My Blazer came with a driver's seat only, no passenger's or rear seat. When they came like that from the factory they had a small bracket welded on the rear floor to hold the spare flat on the rear floor. Maybe you have one of those or the remnants of it. It's the thing in the red circle.

Re: Spare tire information help

Ok, I was mistaken in my earlier post about my 70 not having a mount. I crawled under it today and saw that it had the holes and welded nuts behind the drivers seat so it looks like they all came with the mount, even when ordered with one or two front seats.
