Radio delete plate question

Today I noticed I have two different radio delete plates in my parts bin used in the 47-54 trucks. I assume they are model year changes but wanted to know if anyon on here knew which was correct for what years.

The differences are in the plate holes (round or oblong) and the mount of crown in the button studs.

Re: Radio delete plate question

They're '47-'53 Chevy & GMC. The one with the holes was hacked/modified by someone. The plug/side nuts usually look more like the one on the left but could vary some I guess. '54 & '55 1st series delete plate was different

Re: Radio delete plate question

Difference in the crown could be explained by different original regional suppliers having slightly different stampings or castings. Same with the plates themselves, I doubt QC was worried about minor variations from the standards as long as they fit and covered the hole. Same applies to most parts, a front clip from say Fremont plant in CA might fit just fine together, but those same parts applied to trucks from St. Louis, etc. might be off. Early vs. late in production run can make a difference too.
