Parking brake release???

The parking brake release handle does not stay in. If I pull it out, it will stay out. If I push it in, it will stay in. Isn't there suppose to be a spring or something to hold the release handle in? Mine seems to be missing or broken. If so, is the spring available?

This is on my 1970 C20.

Yes, there is supposed to be a spring on it.
