clacking?
 Got a question anyone ever had a clacking sound coming from the engine after the pickup warms up? If so what did you do to fix it? I would appreciate any help. |

also looking for a cab for a 1972 GMC non ac, manual tranny somewhere close to washington state.

So it doesn't make the noise when it's still cold?? Had a broken rocker arm on a small block once that sounded like the end of the world, but definately made noise cold or hot. Was a 'clacking' sort of sound too. I'd start by taking off the valve covers and givin it the visual inspection. Good Luck!

 took the valve covers off today not nothing I can see wrong I am thinking of replacing the engine with a new crate motor. Pretty frustrating. I think the guy that helped me overhaul didnt know what he was doing. Not giving up on the truck yet thats for sure. thanks for the answers. Anything is much appreciated.

If its a double clack its a wrist pin if single maybe a piston skirt. I have a motor with a broken piston skirt and its very anoying to everybody, it started about 8000 mile ago. Pull 1 plug wire at a time to figure which cylinder then forget about it till you get your crate motor.
