Re: Pats 68

Yeah the 69 is my favorite year. What would happen if i got pulled over?"you got the wrong year grill son, your goin downtown"...just messin. My neighbor said the same thing. He likes the streamline look of the 67/68 too.He was also upset when i traded. But i don't care really.I got the correct fenders & hood. Now i just need to work on trading the gmc grill for the 69 chevy grill.

I have a few updates.I scored a power steering box from a 73-87 truck. My frame was not a power steering frame and i didn't have any gas for the torch(no oxygen) so i cut out the power steering hump from one of my junk frames. and welded it into my frame.I know it doesn't look exactly like factory, but it works now.

Re: Pats 68

And i saved the best update for last today.I'm really excited about this one.I found a really sweet steering column at my buds hot rod shop.I had no idea what it was at the time, but i told him i have to have that column. He said "take it bro"...With little research i found its from a 1966 caprice..1 year only telescopic/tilt column. They also put these in the impala ss.It bolts right into our trucks. No modifications at all.Im sure i will have to make a custom dash to fit around the column though.it looks bigger.

Re: Pats 68

also, does anyone know of any good threads rebuilding a 66 impala/caprice steering column?the one i have wont lock on the telscoping part.can i just weld it closed?im getting ready to shorten the shaft a bit so i can push the column in a little bit more.i dont really care for the telescopic part.i would have it pushed all the way in all the time anyways.

Pat, I finally caught up on your truck thread. I like it!
I've always been a little partial to the 69 gmc grill because my dad had a 69 GMC short step when I was growing up.

Looks like your cat could give CPR lessons. He's showing the proper angle of attack for the "Heiney Lick Maneuver".
