Engine ?????

I have a 69 Chevy truck that came with the 6 Cyl. About 5 years
ago I pulled the six and put in a 350 and auto trans that came out
of a 74 Malibu. (At least thats what I was told). The 350 lopes (cam) and have had no luck getting idle set right. I am rebuilding
a 350 that came out of totaled 92 Z71 and gonna replace current
350. Hope I'm not opening a can of worms. Anyways right now
engine set back to where distributer almost hitting fire wall. Seems like I read on another thread where somebody had moved
it closer to radiator. Where is best place to mount engine and
what is required? Any pics would be helpful. Also if anyone has
done this please give any advice on mounting computer etc.
Will try and get some pics and post when the sun comes up.
Thanks

Don

There are a few advantages to putting the engine where you have it, weight shift is the main one I can think of (Please add if you know more reasons) then there is also not wanting to replace the drive shaft, and if you are dealing with a manual shift truck, it can be a pain to sort out all the Z-bar stuff.
Draw backs to keeping it in the 6 location, alot of people look at it and see it being kinda half assed and not done 'correctly', the distributor location as you mentioned, and the fact that most people don't know how to get the fan in the shroud. (later water pump or a 4X4 fan shroud will place it perfectly)
Personally, I would get the small block motor towers and move it forward.
