three on the tree
Hi Guys
I have a 68 gmc with three on the tree and it just started getting really stiff and hard to shift. Does anyone know how two lube this and what I should use? any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bryan |

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think there is two bars on the driver side and then there is the shift likage connected to eachone and I think if you use some white lithium grease it's loosen it up

Welcome to the forum from frigid central Ohio, where you coming in from? This is THE place to be if you own a 67 - 72 chevy (Or the better looking GMC cousin) trucks.
Something you may want to do on your shifter, is have some one in the drivers seat (after you teach them how to shift a column shift truck) and have them go through the gears slowly (engine off for safety) while you are under the hood and maybe under the truck its self, looking for binding. Chances are, any lube you put on there will be just covering up another problem, like bad/worn bushings, or a rod that may have gotten bent last time it got jambed between gears. I personally don't know much about the 3 on the tree shift linkages, but I have seen the before with a fairly OK shifter, and the after, which was pretty darn nice to drive. (Jewles' truck at the OHIO BOARD MEET last summer) |

thanks for the welcome I'm in sunny but cold Boise, Idaho. I don't think anything is bent because after things warm up it gets easier to shift
