adjustable drag link, bolt end spins on itself

I am trying to install one of those adjustable drag links as i have just finished installing a dropped axle... The drag link itself is fine, but as i try to put the nut on the end of it, the threaded part of the end spins on itself as i try to tighten the nut.

This particular one does not have the cotter pin hole in it and it seems to be a lock nut.

Any thoughts, do i have to go with an air impact to get it on? if that would even work..

Impact would work. Sometimes it takes some pressure on the head of the link to get it to stop turning. But check threads, make sure they match, and clean up if needed. Turning nut with wrenches if it's that tight can be a drawn out process.

Do you have photos or brand and parts number so someone can see what you are working with rather than just throwing out pie in the sky ideas?

The CPP unit appears to have a jamb nut on each end and one should have left and the other should have right hand threads. I'd say that the general concept is to hold the center with a pair of vise grips while tightening the nut on one end and then tighten the nut on the other end.

Thanks 1project2many, that worked perfectly.

mr48chev, i meant the end that goes into the steering pitman arm. The knuckle inside the rubber housing was turning and i couldn't get the nut on to secure it in place.
