Hydraulic clutch conversion

Howdy everyone, I am restoring and modifying a 1969 K20. I am in need of some guidance and advice. I have a SBC mated to a SM465 transmission using a mid '80s aluminum bell housing that is set up for a OEM slave cylinder. My question is this; is there a hydraulic clutch conversion kit available to add a master cylinder to the OEM clutch pedal mechanism including linkage and needed mods? Any help is greatly appreciated! This is my project so far.

Re: Hydraulic clutch conversion

First off, nice looking project truck you got there.

Second, I am not sure on a clutch master for your truck. You might want to check Tick Performance. I know they supply hyd. kits. Most going into LS swaps like my 67 Chevelle has.
Not sure if this helps or not.

Keep us posted on the progress of your build.

Re: Hydraulic clutch conversion

This might help: looks like you could make a set of stock pedals work.

Re: Hydraulic clutch conversion

I found a JAMAR master cylinder from a local off road shop. I Had to holesaw into my firewall and drill a 1/4" hole in my pedal. Just make sure you mount it low enough to get the right amount of throw. It fit like it could have been a factory option.

Re: Hydraulic clutch conversion

Here's a picture from the inside of the cab. I hadn't drilled the hole in my pedal arm yet. The mastercylinder mounted between the bracing on the inside firewall.

Re: Hydraulic clutch conversion

Thanks Mark, that is what I have been looking for. I like how clean the set up looks on your truck. Can you provide any part numbers and a hole location on the clutch foot lever? I think I can see in the picture that the fluid line is not ran yet, are you confident that the master cylinder will move the volume of fluid needed to disengage the clutch? Thanks again, Mark

The part number on my receipt is MC50003/4. I purchased it from Butch's speed shop here in Vegas. I'm sure you can order it from any JAMAR dealer. I will take some measurements and PM them to you. I haven't ran the hose yet but I'm confident it will provide enought fluid&PSI with the 3/4" bore. It doesn't matter which MC you decide to go with just make sure you mount it low enough so you get a full stroke. I also like the fact they offer a rebuild kit for it and it's not a disposable item.

Re: Hydraulic clutch conversion

Thank you every one that gave me some info on this. I think that Captain Fab has the hot ticket on this conversion. I now have the kit on order from him. Thanks again, Mark.
