Kicking it with the Suburban guys now!!

After spending most of my time and posts in the 47-59 section with my 59 Apache, I have a good reason to hang out in this section now....

I bought this 72' suburban yesterday and going to pick it up this Sunday. It's been sitting out in the middle of nowhere for years so it needed a good rescuing! The last time it was registered and on the road was 1992. BUT according to the guys son, it ran when it was parked. Odd part of it, they swapped a straight 6 in it. But regardless, I can't wait to get it home and tear into it!

Very cool!
How is the rust situation?

What do you think your plans are gonna be on it?

Rockers are gone on both side. Other than that, very minimal...

So I'm guessing that someone definitely makes the rocker patch panels. Who's the best company to order from??

Not really sure who would be the best to order from, though I would call the board vendors first.

Last I heard, no one was making Suburban 3rd door rockers, so plan on fabricating one out of a pick up rocker.

Auto Metal Direct is very good. Not sure if they are a board vendor, but their piece fit perfectly.

Got this behemoth loaded up, strapped down and took to it's new home yesterday. Turns out 6000 pounds, 4 flat tires and a hand chain hoist will whoop your @ss. Had to call in re-enforcement! Hahaha!

Even with 4 aired up tires, a Suburban is no fun to push or pull...
I won't even attempt it these days, for fear of giving myself a heart attack..

I'm trying to get my 59 Apache project on the road before I tinker with the burban. I get side tracked easily. So one at a time, haha.

That's great man. I'm glad you took the tree growing out the grill along for the ride.

I think I prefer barn doors over the tailgate version.

Haha, man that thing was aggravating to get out of the grille!

And yeah I'm definitely down with the big barn doors myself!
