AD floor pan replacement

We have a AD cab in the shop that needs the floor replaced. The entire floor was riddled with pin holes and it will be easier to swap floors that just do the pans and patches. I'll post up pictures as we go for those that need to do the same.

First was making a jig to stabilize the cab and be able to hang it up on the fork lift to work on it. once that was done we cut out the perimeter and started drilling out the spot welds .

We do have other work on this in the kick panels and lower cowls. It also has in issue where another shop put a new roof and outer cowl on wrong with a dip of 1/2" or more in the left corner and the roof was put on to low and forward and a little out of whack so the windows are an issue, the left corner window does not fit at all and the windshield will be to loose for the rubber to hold in it. Its kind of a mess but fixable.

Re: AD floor pan replacement

We started the roof and cowl repairs and it seems that nothing was welded completely except the corners over the corner windows and the front pillar posts, as it truns out that was good thing because it was real easy to get off. The cowl was spotted here and there and came off in about 20 minutes. Once the roof and cowl were off everything moved back into place around the back windows. It goes off to the blaster Friday hopefully we'll see it back mid week and can start on the replacement of the floor , roof and cowl, hang the doors and send it back home.

Re: AD floor pan replacement

We got it back this morning and stripped out all the un needed tin and cleaned up the weld areas. The pan comes with everything except outer corners coated in a weld thru primer.

Re: AD floor pan replacement

A few more with the pan in place. This was very easy with two people and of course some way to hold it up in the air. We tilted it way up in the back lifted it into place and then slid it in to the front and the rear down against the corners. clamped it up and its as you see it. The pan fits very well and will require very little trimming. The only real trouble spot is where the seat riser rear brace extensions connect to the pillars. We need to trim one side and extend the other so we're going to drill out the spot welds on the extensions and move them then re-weld them.

Re: AD floor pan replacement

Last ones. we will remove the tank straps and saddle the drill out the spots on the extensions. Once that done it goes back up for a test fit and weld up.
