Replacing power window motor help
Ok, can anyone give me a step by step process on how to change the power window motor on the driver front window of a 90 Burban? The stupid Hanes book is very veg on how to perform it. I've got the panel off. Also, when doing this, do I need the window up, down or what? Help please

Re: Replacing power window motor help
I have had my glass, regulator and motor in and out several times when I rebuilt the truck and was trying to get everything working right. I find it easier to get the roller wheels in the window track if you remove the outer rubber weather stripping that runs along the edge of the door. This gives you more room to move the glass and get the rollers in the tracks. I just kept moving the regulator up and down using the switch until I got to a position where I could get the rollers in the tracks. I left everything kind of loose until i got the rollers in the tracks, then I tightened everything up.
Other than that, I don't have any tricks. This job is a pain in the ass and I hope I never have to take the windows out again. |

Also, you need to have the vent window out and don't put it back in until you get the regulator and glass in place.

Re: Replacing power window motor help
I got it and yes it's a pain in the ass. I did it before (16-17 years ago) and I just couldn't remember the best way to get window back in easy. Thanks Greenlee, it was a little bit easier removing the outer seal. I ended up calling a buddy after an hour and a few beers. Just need that extra hand holding the window while moved things around. 2 minutes it was in the tracks and regulator mounted. Thanks again Greenlee.

Re: Replacing power window motor help
I had to replace the drivers side glass on my 85 and couldn't figure it out, after messing with it an hour or more I finally got it in. All I remember was thinking someone on the assembly line was doing them all day long back when.
