Amp Gauge
My Amp Gauge has never worked on my 69 chevy pickup, I checked the alternator and it is fine, so i figured I will just replace the Amp Gauge. So, I removed the instrument panel and the Amp Gauge and installed my new one I got from Classic Chevy. Put it all back together and surprise, surprise , it still don't work. What do I do now ? maybe it is the circuit board ? Anybody have ideas? how do you test an Amp Gauge? Not like a volt meter. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Re: Amp Gauge
There's a wiring diagram in the electrical section.
There are 2 small 4A if I recall fuses in black rubber inline holders near where the fender and core support meet. One on each side. See if one or both are bad. I'd measure voltage to ground from each side of the gauge. You may need to disconnect one side and measure from the connection to ground on that side. The gauge is fed by 12V from 2 spots in the harness under the hood. So what moves the needle is the difference in voltage. More voltage closer to the alt makes the needle move toward C. |

Re: Amp Gauge
My bet is those fuses, front corners of engine bay.

Re: Amp Gauge
.....I'm in as the third on saying its one (or both) of those 2 front fuses. That was exactly the issue on mine as well.

Re: Amp Gauge
the fuse holders look like the one in this picture. Should be just about behind each headlight. These are short SFE 4 fuses. I got mine at Carquest.
