Searching these forums I found this;
SM465 ratios:
1st- 6.55
2nd- 3.58
3rd- 1.57
4th- 1.0

Sorry ... I could have found that myself. I was under the impression that there may have been multiple different ratios available.

Here's the *long* story why I am semi-interested.

My son wants a manual for his truck. He wants a 5-speed. 5-speeds are very expensive, so he has instead set his sights on a 4-speed; a close-ratio 4-speed like a Saginaw or a Muncie or a T-10. He does not want a granny gear.

In the meantime I convinced him to get his truck running with a TH-400 that we bought off of a running truck.

Being relatively green on these truck rebuilds, what wold it take (in addition to your transmission) to get a working drivetrain. I am assuming a clutch assembly? Your bell-housing would bolt right onto a SBC, correct?

If I were you, I'd start a thread in the main forums asking what's the cheapest and easiest way to get your son's truck rolling.
You may get some good suggestions.
The SM465 is straight up a grunt truck tranny.
