S10 extended cab chassis shortening?
I've got my s10 stripped down and just have to move the fuel lines and brake lines.
I read about shortening at the joint under the cab. ? is do I grind the existing weld and try to sep. at the joint or do I cut it and fish plate it? What are the best options? |

Re: S10 extended cab chassis shortening?
Cut the welds at joint, slide the rear frame out, cut off the desired amount from rear rails, and slide back in. Now weld her back up and you are good to go.

Re: S10 extended cab chassis shortening?
Should I use a cut off wheel to grind just the welds carefully or should I cut threw the weld?
Anyone have a good pictures of where they ground the welds? |

Re: S10 extended cab chassis shortening?
carefully grind the weld only, i used a 1/16 wide cut off wheel on my 4-1/2" grinder, and ground / cut the weld a little at a time. grind / look grind look, method. you just have to be carefull not to cut through the inner "female" part in the frame.
