Ball joint interchange?
I have a '70 GMC 3/4 ton driver and a '72 3/4 ton heap. Want to rob the disc brakes off the '72. I know that the taper on '67-70 ball joints and tie rod ends is different from '71-72 for 1/2 ton trucks. Are they different on 3/4s as well?

Some more questions
Okay, I have a '72 1/2 ton frontend laying around (at my folks, so I can't look at it and measure). Are the control arms, shafts and ball joint diameters the same for 1/2-3/4? Meaning can I rebuild my 1/2 ton control arms to 3/4 ton specs? Can I use 1/2 to shafts or will I need a complete shaft kit? Will 3/4 ton ball joints fit 1/2 ton control arms? Thanks.

If you rob the 1/2 ton disk's your gonna have a 5 lug up front and 3/4 ton in back ???? Or do you have a 1/2 ton rear end already in back? If you already have 5 lug in the rear just swap put the 3/4 ton font to the half ton front end..

No, I want to keep it a 3/4 ton and swap the discs from the '72 3/4. I was just thinking about rebuilding the frontend while I was at it, and wondering if I could rebuild the 1/2 ton control arms/shafts with 3/4 parts. The 1/2 ton stuff is already loose, so I could do that stuff and then just rob the spindles from the 3/4.
