Re: Y6G promo package

YG6 Promo Package was the basic "Promo Package A" offering bundled options with the Highlander trim upgrade. Thus a YG_ coded promo package truck was also a Highlander but a Highlander trim coded truck was NOT ALWAYS a promo package equipped truck.

These were sales savings packages A,B and C with increasing levels of content offered on Fleetside Pickups, Blazers and Suburbans.

Promo package codes and savings (for pickups only shown) over individual option costs.

A= YG6 Plaid Trim, Special Wheelcovers C10 (PA1) or
Chrome Hubcaps C20-30 & K5 (PO3), Chrome Front Bumper (V46), Upper Bodyside Molding (B85 belt, pickups only), Door Edge Guards (B93) and Below Eye-Line Mirrors (DG4 on Pickups/Suburbans and DF2, full campers, on Blazers). A $94.50 savings.

B= YG7 (includes A) Adds Turbo-Hydramatic Trans., Power Steering and Tilt. A $178.50 savings.

C= YG8 (includes A and B) Adds A/C and Tint. A $260.50 savings.

Unfortunately it wouldn't be factory.
The only documented 4x4 Highlanders are K5 Blazers.
The factory sales material specifically excluded the K10-20 Pickups and Suburbans. While I had hope that there were some special ordered, to date none have been found.

But with C30 I could roll a period NAPCO (or other) 4x4 conversion kit under it.

Re: Y6G promo package

Excellent info as always SS Tim, pretty cool truck if we are all talking the same Hugger Orange one? Trying to get a price for it was like pulling teeth! We won the last ebay auction (reserve not met) but he still would not give up a price to get it done.

The response was that he is testing the waters and that Hot August Nights was right around the corner and to be patient. I'm out, this will not be a cheap truck to acquire but that's OK I'll keep on building mine. Good luck to those still interested I think you'll need some deep pockets to get this truck bought!

That doesn't bother me too much, I would just love a k20 period! I can't find any in my area!

Thanks!

Actually 546 is 516 Orange primary with a 521 White roof in the Conventional Two-Tone pattern.

A "Hugger Orange" truck would be coded 553 for a 524 Red Orange primary with a 521 White roof in Conventional Two-Tone.

Ha, you know the truck I'm referring to and your correct of course! It's a sweet YG8 truck.

Incorrect. That truck was a solid factory built K/20 Highlander. Not sure what you base your "documented" statement on. I have known of other Highlander K/10s & K/20 pickups and Suburbans as well.

I thought I remember seeing somewhere that it was a factory k20. That makes it even cooler

I have always looked for 4x4 highlander trucks and have only seen one in person, it was bronze and white with the grey plaid seat. I have always been interested in any info on 4x4 highlander trucks.

Tim you yourself have acknowledged that your 72 was in fact a C20 Highlander body on a K20 frame in several posts back in '08.

While there may very well be factory assembeld and coded 4x4 pickup or Suburban Highlanders, to my knowledge none of surfaced.
Over the years in tracking down C30 Highlanders I have found possibles but in every case the SPID and or VIN were missing or questionable.

The fact is it "should" have been available as a factory option on all the K series truck. Since the trim upgrade was offered right from the beginning of the 72MY production I'm sure some dealers tried.

In any event it would have been a very easy dealer swap to change interiors with another stock unit. Although the floormat/carpet shifter hole makes it less likely.

Joe, If you have any documentation of a factory 4x4 pickup or Suburban I'd love to see it. Do you have pictures and the SPID of the this bronze truck?

Tim, I saw this truck many years ago. I don't have any pictures. I always enjoy reading all the info you provide us on this forum. Sure would be interesting to see if someone has some picture proof of a SPID From a K series highlander. Maybe start a new thread on this subject?

Re: Y6G promo package

Thanks!
I've spent a lot of time unraveling what I can about the Highlanders starting with busting the "All Real Highlanders are Promos" myth. It would be great to see real documented 4x4 trucks appear. But you are right it needs to go to a central thread and probably the best is keep asking about 4x4 Highlanders in the pickup and Suburban threads. It gets lots of traffic and is a natural addition.

Agreed, if they exist, I'm changing my craigslist search parameters!! I've been looking for a long time and have never seen one. Would love to see a documented highlander K, it would have to top my list for a gotta have (right behind the K20 Cheyenne Super Custom Camper, of course..)

Re: Y6G promo package

That truck definitely had a story to it, and (at least) a cab swap in same original paint. The cab had a headliner. It had both the lower molding and the band on the tailgate. I know at least the tailgate was from the original truck because it had blue letters. When I first joined I talked with a member who was familiar with the truck from the original owner and the couple more hands before me. I agree you can't count it as documented. I never cared about that kind of stuff. I've just always been into these trucks in more unique/exceptional combinations.

I've shown a friend's Omaha Orange C/30 dual wheel w/factory flatbed. I'll have to get out that way and take a picture of his SPID. IIRC everything checks out with that one.
