First of all, I appoligise for offending you. That was not my intention. I definatly disagree with your opinion, but I do not hold that against you. I think that is pretty immature of yourself to "not talk to me" because you don't agree with my opinion. I remember stuff like that in highschool. On a second note, lets see a picture of your truck or cars. I have yet to "screw up" a vehicle and would be willing to compare vehicles with you any day. Seems to me like you have alot of hostility for no reason. I have worked in metal fabrication for some time now and this is a simple mod. Here is a picture of a gate we designed, hand forged then installed in Napa Valley, CA. Do you really think that shortening a piece of C channel is a difficult task? It's all a matter of perspective though.... I just think yours is off. |

I would be highly interested in your bed if you consider selling it. I am in Garland. So not too far away. Let me know.

I'm with the don't cut it crowd. Like said, longsteps are kinda hard to find as there was not a whole ton of them made. Of course it is your truck and what you do with it is your deal.

I didn't realize they were rare so I am re-considering the idea. Thanks for the support. What is the bed worth? I just bought a brand new fender, roll pan, and tailgate for it and the whole truck is being blocked and painted a BMW paint code PPG Dark Steel Metalic base coat clear coat this weekend...

I live in the Spring Park area. You are super close. I had a landscaping business in Plano for 4 years, Unlimited Landscape DBA. Shop is called The Chrome Dome. They do super nice stuff at a great rate because of the lower overhead

I wouldn't cut the long step sides........but I'd cut the frame in a second compared to changing it all over to another frame. You can find short steps everywhere.

I think i'm gonna go with a short bed to, i have a short bed frame. If you wanna go short, we could talk about a trade for frame for bed?

I'm with the "Rare Longstep" crowd...I'd leave it a longstepper but it's also your truck...do what makes ya happy.

Long steps are cool, just because you don't see one everytime you turn around.
The whole cutting the frame idea... while I wouldn't be afraid to do it, I would DEFINITELY shy away from buying a truck that had been shortened. My reasoning? *I* didn't do the work, and I'll be damned if I'm going to trust that someone else did a decent job, making it strong and straight. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.
