Re: 1979 GMC S/B LS Swap-Carb intake
Sure
I had a ZZ 502 in her; nice for a daily driver when gas isn't 3.80 a gallon. I have done a few vortec swaps in 67-72 Chevy';s and decided to get a bit more economical. 2003 5,3 Vortec Stock Ex. manifolds-I had header problems Edel 7118 intake and performer 600 cfm Stock fuel tank;electric pump/regulator 700R4-Monster Tranny 3.73 rear end Just about it; nothing overly fancy and I have yet to see a carbureted LS in this area. |

Re: 1979 GMC S/B LS Swap-Carb intake
Very cool, my 76 is almost "road worthy". How is the drivability with the carb set up over the efi set up? I have never driven a carbed ls so I have no point of reference.

Re: 1979 GMC S/B LS Swap-Carb intake
Okay, First of all sorry for the delays; truck has been pitching a Fit.
The Carb LS swap is done; Edelbrock controller is not doing its job very well so back top the Truck Intake. |

Re: 1979 GMC S/B LS Swap-Carb intake
Tires on the GMC 1979 were 255/70 15. Found the Rallys on a truck in the salvage yard. 15X8 and the center caps;I think 6 rims and caps for 100 bucks. seemed fair to me.

Re: 1979 GMC S/B LS Swap-Carb intake
Also, Carb intake was what I was referencing not running well; fowling plugs. like I said, back to the stock Vortec truck intake:
Fuel system will be a 1987 Fuel Tank and pump set up; pump puts out 135 PSI and the tank is baffled; 200.oo set up from Rock Auto. Fuel out-efi Hose to 10 or 40 Micron inline. 3/8" Not to hose barb input; Braid 6 AN to the inlet on the intake. return line I think is 5/16 and low pre4ssure so I will probably run 5/16 EFI hose to the pump return; not sure if I have enough room for tube to AN crush fittings. I will try and post my results. |
