1987 Suburban Help
I have a 87 4x4 burban with 12" of lift and I want to drop it down to 6"-8" inches of lift and run 37" tire. The lift I have now is a Super Lift and it is crap. It has drop about 4" over the last couple of years. What is the best lift this heavy trucks and what price am I looking at. I know ill have to have a complete system. I have searched this site and many other but I haven't found anyone that is going from a higher lift to a lower lift. I will also be doing a 1/2 ton to 3/4 to swap but I've got that cover. This truck is used mainly for hunting and pulling.

I don't have any experience with that much lift but have moved your thread to the 4x4 Tech forum, someone here will know what works best on the squares.

For the lift http://offroaddesign.com/ and skip the 3/4 ton and go straight to 1 ton axles aka dana 60 and full float 14 bolt.The reason i say that is the 1/2 and 3/4 ton front axle is the same but for the lug pattern,The 3/4 ton rear end depends the years it could be a 12 bolt to a full float 14.

Is this 12" all spring lift? If so, you are in for new springs no mater what. I would look at Tuff Country 6" all spring lift kits. Make sure the 3/4 ton swap includes a 14bff for the rear, since you mentioned towing. Anything less would be zero improvement. (14bsf slight improvement)
Some things come to mind. drive shaft length (rear axle will change this, so be careful) T-case drop shock length brake line length steering correction or removing steering correction (if it's not crossover, it's probably scary sh*t at 12" of lift) lol 12" of lift on 1/2 tons, oh boy

yeah, just throwing things out there. And when I mentioned T-case drop I meant the removal of whats probably there. I've never seen anything taller than 6" of lift without one, or at least with a front driveshaft.
If you are concerned about ride quality, maybe look at the 4" HD Tuff Country springs for the rear (better for towing) and EZ Rides for the front. Then run a ZeroRate/EZ Inch blocks at each corner, then a 1" body lift. This will net you 6" total but with less spring arch. Same goes for the 8" you were talking about. Go smaller spring lift and add to it. The body lift alone is worth the extra working room you get under the rig (between frame and body, drivetrain, etc)

I'm sure th T-case has been dropped, I haven't look at it to see, I be been all my reaching done while I was at work, but I got home last night and I'm going to start on it today. How in the world do you post a picture

load the picture to a website like Photobucket
then paste the [img] tag in your reply (or sometimes the address location it's at) I broke this link by removing the first letter (H) in http.
