yep don't even try it another way, get a good sharp razor knife and cut away all the rubber until you see the whole edge of the glass. even then you have to be careful pushing it out ,if the corners grab or you push too hard in one spot you could start a crack.

rear window is much easier, pick a good hot day, so the rubber is a little more pliable, pull the bead lock out, and then at the seam slowly start working the rubber over the lip.
