Adding X bracing to the chassis. Who's done it?

Gentlemen,

Done a bit of research on the matter, looked at the post by Mr Astronaut (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=495785) and the how to make it handle thread by Rob.

I cant quite visualise what Rob is discussing and Mr A's is probably more detailed than I want to attempt.

My question is, therefore, who else has added X Bracing to their truck and how did you do it? Pictures would be really useful!

As for why... Well have got part of the way through my suspension upgrades ( front ARB relocated shocks, dropped spindles etc) and am going to be removing the bed over the long weekend to affix the rear ARB along with cleaning and painting the rear chassis.

It seems like the obvious time to add the bracing plus, as I intend to use Woody in autocross events, it is a cheap upgrade.

Over too you.

Re: Adding X bracing to the chassis. Who's done it?

Very nice but about $1,998 more than I have to spend....

I was thinking along the lines of something like this using thin wall tubing...

Am I on the right track?

Do I need the rear most 'X'?

The forward 'X' I plan to tie into the gearbox cross member in some way.

Is it worth boxing the frame? I think i will get more out of the X bracing but keen to hear what others have done.

Hmmm...making it look remarkably similar to my stock '62 frame!

Lol...sorry, couldn't resist.

Not 100% sure as I found the picture on Google images.

Will have a search later and see what wasted income did to his truck.
