Wheels
I recently put 16" factory style steel wheels on my 67 k20. I would assume they are 80's era. 3 the center to out section is rivited together and 1 is welded, so all are not completely identical. All the rims compared to the 16.5 factory ones I originally had are just a little to small to mount over the front drums, and have clearance for the drum to stretch, but come close to where the center section that is riveted/ welded meets the outer part of the rim. These tight tolerances keep the drums from flexing I assume, and is the cause death wobble only when I am braking. This wobble doesn't happen when I am using the 16.5's. I tried Spacing the 16" wheels away from the drum with some washers but they aren't enough, do to stud length.
Any recommendations??? Thanks,, Andrew Andrew Last edited by ChevyTruckGuy68; 05-18-2015 at 12:03 AM. |
