Re: shaved firewall

I built a box to cover my Painless 73-87 harness in my old 73. I actually sold these too for a while, but no longer do. Here are some pics before paint...it was painted body color after the photos were taken, and I changed the design so all the wires exited the bottom and were covered in loom. Harness headlight section ran inside the drivers fender to the core support, completely out of sight.

Re: shaved firewall

Or get a universal wiring harness and mount the fuse block anywhere you want to put it.

Re: shaved firewall

speedway has a nice 21 circuit harness for 164.00. it doesn't go thru the firewall like that. then you can just route your wires werever you want them. more work to rewire though. just depends on how smooth you want it.

Re: shaved firewall

I have a buddy that shaved the firewall in his 70 C10. He cut the section out of the fire wall where the bulkhead connector mates up to the back of the fuse block and welded that piece inside the truck. Then he patched up the hole with sheet metal and routed all of the wires out the side of the fire wall and into the cavity of the fender. I know that his generation of truck has more space between the side of the fire wall and the fenders than our generation does, so you could run the wires down through the lip of the fire wall (like the parking brake cable routes) and that should hide your wires between the fire wall and the inner fender. Just an idea.
