1972 suburban what is it worth?
So I have the chance to buy this 72 suburban. Big block auto 2wd. Doesn't run right now needs a carb and distributor. Has a little rust in the rockers and normal rust in the fenders, the worst is a hole in the 1/4 panel on the bottom the size of maybe a tennisball. Whats it realistically worth? Heres a few pics

If the glass is all good, realistically 1k- 1200, I would say... You are taking a chance on the engine, they quit driving it and started robbing parts off of it for a reason.... I don't see a shifter or turn signal lever anywhere. LockDoc

If I was selling it I would have the price set at $2,000.

I would want to buy that for around $1,000. There is a lot of work there. Needs a carb and distributor, means that the engine is shot until you can prove otherwise. The saying "believe none of what you hear and half of what you see" is especially true when buying used vehicles.

Re: 1972 suburban what is it worth?
Had to pass on it cause I have to many projects going on right now and work is super busy. Would have been a good deal though he only wanted 500. Just a bill of sale though so not sure about how much the back fees would have been.

Re: 1972 suburban what is it worth?
It sure is a good thing that Texas doesn't rack up registration fees (yet at least) when a vehicle is off the road like California does. That must make it a little more complicated when looking for a project vehicle that has been sitting. To me sometimes we are too wrapped up in the initial asking price of a vehicle. Every vehicle I have worked on the asking price has been the smallest factor of what I have invested in it. That's probably what I get for buying projects that need everything though. If I like the vehicle and I am personally comfortable with the price I just buy the thing. I don't worry too much that some guy in Nevada paid half as much for a better one while a guy in Maine paid twice as much for a junker. Maybe its just me being a little too loose with my money though.

Re: 1972 suburban what is it worth?
I'd say $500 was right on for that even without a title as a parts truck would be ok.
