70 c20

I bought a 1970 C20 last week. I am 49 and this is my first GM vehicle. I like the lines and love older vehicles. When I was a kid, my dads best friend had one in the same color this one was originally. It was the lime green color. It is now rattle can white. It has a rebuilt 350 and 4 speed transmission with less than 50k on rebuilds. It runs like a charm, rides well and is in overall decent condition. It needs the typical Chevy rockers and cab corners but even they are still ok. Right now I am chasing wires. I tried to redo the trailer light connector and now have no tail lights on drivers side. I have them on passengers side. I am probably just going to rewrite the whole side back there. Some of the wires aren't so good. Overall, I think I did ok. $1500 is what I paid for it.

Good looking truck. Just start chasing all the little problems down and try to keep her in 1 piece for as long as you can. Collect all the sheet metal stuff, then take her down, weld her up and back on the road. too many people do way too much and the truck gets taken apart and never put back together.

Re: 70 c20

Welcome from Phoenix Arizona.

You did well on that truck.

Just take little bites at a time, and like others have said, keep it moving under it's own power. It's easier to put money and time into one that can move when needed.

Re: 70 c20

Fixed all the lights except brake lights. I am going to check out switch in morning. I really like this truck. It's easy to work on. I am not someone who would tear it apart and leave it. I will whittle away. I was surprised that I get about 13-14 mpg. Thanks for the welcomes!

Don't forget the fuse for the brake lights.
Was your truck built in Canada?

Re: 70 c20

Awesome truck! Great Price!
The guys here (not so much me) will help you with EVERYTHING!
I bought my '70 C20 with an engine that would turn, by hand, no starter, and a completely empty cab. No pedal. No steering column. Nothing but a dash and gas tank.
Read. Read. Read on these threads.
I've said it many times...this forum is like having 3 Uncles, both yer Grandpas, and your Dad under the hood with you. But one better...they won't call you an idiot when you rebuild your carb while the whole problem is electrical!
With these guys' help, I took the For Sale sign outta my window. Fixed everything that annoys me, so I'm keeping it!
Welcome aboard!
