Bed width vs cab width
I am just about ready to send my 84 c10 project in for paint. My only concern
Is that the bed is 3/16 " wider than the cab at the body lines. My builder raised my bed floor above my notch. I am just wanting to make sure that sounds about right. Thanks |

Re: Bed width vs cab width
The cab narrows to the back from the door opening, so the bed will look a little wider. If the tailgate gap is good, measure between the bed rails front and back to make sure they're parallel.

Re: Bed width vs cab width
Tailgate gap is perfect and everything is square. It is just hard to tell looking at pictures of other trucks. It seems like all pictures are from the side or angles.

Re: Bed width vs cab width
MURPH82, I had the same problem. Though I'm now not going to use my repo bedsides, they were the cause!!! I fixed them by drilling out the spot welds on the pieces that attached to the front panel and moving the actual bedside inward and re-spot welding in order to line up with cab lines. Kind of hard to explain without pictures. I'm at 35,000 feet on my way from DC to Des Moines and can't get pictures for you at this time. Hopefully you're tracking with what I'm saying. Good luck, Mike

Re: Bed width vs cab width
BTW, it was only one of the bedsides causing the problem, not both. Good luck! I'm pretty sure that's your culprit. Mike

Re: Bed width vs cab width
My bed and cab are factory and its the same deal. As Twinturbo said above..... the cab narrows slighty on the back edge. You can have the straightest square ever, and it will look this way, unless of course body work is done to change the look. It doesn't really bother me that much.

Re: Bed width vs cab width
Pulled the bedsides in and I am happy with the results. We only pulled each side in 3/16 but it made a difference.
