above windsheild rust fix
I was able to find a rust free panel at the junkyard for the outside above the windsheild (cut off the whole roof) and I just got done cutting all the spot welds loose and pulling it down. Now I need to find a place that sells the inside above the windsheild patch panel mine was rotted bad inside and out from mice nests and my donor roof has rust pinholes on the inside panel. Anyone know who sells these? And would it do any harm to weld up the seams on both sides of the windsheild where it was just caulked before. I also got a real nice windsheild but noticed today it has now cracked on the bottom...ugggg waste of 50 bucks. Anyone know the proper way to store a windsheild it was in my yard outside front side down on the seat. Don't know why it would crack like that with nothing near it

Re: above windsheild rust fix
I am pretty sure they make an inside panel as well as the outside one.
http://www.classicparts.com/1964-66-.../#.VVqS8MbbKtI welding the seams should not be a problem, they weren't welded from the factory ,probably as a cost saving measure... I have some pics of the windshield panel replacement I just did in this thread: (starts at post # 202 page 9) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=646830&page=9

Re: above windsheild rust fix
Thanks for the link and looking at your build really helps clarify a few things. One day I'll own a 60-66 crew cab even if I have to make one. I was tempted to buy the whole cab I cut the rood off and try to make an extended cab but I have way to many projects to start on something like that right now.

Re: above windsheild rust fix
you're welcome.
I was hoping when I did that repair, that I would get enough good pictures to help people out. seems to be a pretty bad rust area for our trucks-if the roof seam sealer gives up, or they sit in an area prone to mice that panel gets shot.

Re: above windsheild rust fix
LMC truck sells the panels on the outside as well as the inside which also rusts.
